Young people in north Belfast have been trying to organise an arranged fight this evening, say police.
Now, they say officers will be on patrol in the Limestone Road and Cliftonpark Avenue areas this evening.
Their message to young people is to ‘not bother.’
“Well our message for the young people who may have been intent on causing trouble, is to not bother as police will be in the area this evening, and indeed are already on patrol,” said a spokesperson.
“All this sort of thing does is cause real annoyance to local people, and end up with young people potentially getting criminal records and all the disadvantages that come with that,” added the spokesperson.
And police are appealing to parents to be wary of where their children are.
“For local parents, guardians, youth workers and others, we would ask you to consider where your young people are this evening and what they are doing.
“We don’t want to catch young people causing trouble – we want to stop them getting into trouble in the first place,” added the spokesperson.
