A young woman was severely burned after handling a firework she found which was shaped like the popular children’s cartoon character Peppa Pig.
She sustained burns to her hands in the incident which occurred in the Drumcoo area of Dungannon. The young woman received medical treatment for her injuries.
Police say her avoidable injuries were caused simply by handling the firework.
Now, coming up to Hallowe’en, they are issuing a warning to young people to never handle fireworks.
“Regardless of the area, or the characteristics of the firework, the message is the same – DO NOT HANDLE IT- fireworks should never be handled by children and are to be stored or disposed of in a safe manner. Best wishes to the young female’s recovery,” said a police spokesperson.
