The world’s grumpiest cat made famous by her permanent scowl has passed away.
Grumpy Cat, owned by Tabatha Bundesen from Arizona first became famous in 2012 in a YouTube video that collected 15.7 million views.
Grumpy Cat has inspired numerous memes and a best-selling series of books as well as a movie.
Even her reported $100m fortune could not put a smile on her recognisable face. The internet cat sensation’s real name is Tardar Sauce. She was born with dwarfism and an underbite, which gave her the trademark disgruntled expression.
With fans around the world, Grumpy had over two million followers on Instagram,
Her first book, Grumpy Cat: A Grumpy Book, was a guide to attaining ‘true grumpiness.’
“We are unimaginably heartbroken,” said Grumpy Cat’s family in a statement. It’s understood she developed complications following a urinary tract infection.
