Young people have been throwing stones from the Crebilly Road flyover in Ballymena, onto vehicles travelling on the motorway below.
Police are asking parents to speak to their children about what could potentially happen if a car travelling at 70mph was to be hit with a stone or an apple.
“Imagine, a car doing 70mph and impacting with a stone, apple or something else which has been thrown from a height. Definitely not a good combination…the result could have potentially tragic consequences,” said a police spokesperson.
“We all know what could happen next time.”
Police are asking the public to be vigilant and to report any young people acting suspiciously.
“We are asking parents to speak with their children about the obvious dangers and for the public to be vigilant and report if they see any youths acting suspiciously on flyovers/bridges in the area,” added the spokesperson.
