Animal lovers have expressed outrage after a Florida lawyer filmed himself pushing a stowaway racoon off his boat and into the sea, 20 miles from the coast.
Thomas Cope’s ‘despicable’ actions have been condemned by animal lovers around the world. In the video, he is heard saying: “Get off my f—— boat. We’re just going to have to push him off.”
He posted a video on his Facebook page which showed his cruel attempts to scare the terrified racoon off his yacht before it succumbs to a certain death.
After being cornered, the racoon falls over the side of the boat and into the sea where it struggles to stay afloat.
Cope is heard yelling “So long, sucker.”
He has since apologised, but petitions have been organised calling for him to be prosecuted.
