There are 187 new cases of COVID-19 in Northern Ireland.
That’s according to figures just released this afternoon by the Department of Health.
Meanwhile, the dashboard figures ‘underline once again the seriousness of the situation we are facing.’
Those are the words of Health Minister Robin Swann who is appealing to people to follow the public health advice to protect themselves against COVID-19.
And anyone living on the Londonderry-Donegal border should avoid all but necessary travel across the border.
Given the current number of new cases in Donegal and neighbouring areas in Derry, Strabane and Fermanagh, the Chief Medical Officer for Northern Ireland (NI) Dr Michael McBride and the Acting Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) for the Republic of Ireland (ROI) Dr Ronan Glynn are appealing to everyone to follow the advice.
“It is also recommended that employers on both sides of the border make every effort to facilitate employees to work from home in so far as is possible. We realise that for those living in border areas this will not be welcome news but we must prevent further spread of this virus and we can only do so by working together to protect each other,” they added in a joint statement.
