71 new cases of COVID-19 in past 24 hours

Seventy-one people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, according to figures from the Department of Health.

There have been no further deaths.


However, eight PSNI officers in Antrim have tested positive and the two area stations – Antrim and Newtownabbey have been closed for deep cleans.

The total number of positive cases in Northern Ireland stands at 6,647.

The death toll is 559.

In the past seven days, 276 people have been confirmed as having the virus.

There are currently ten hospital in-patients – however no intensive care beds are being used.

The figures also show that outbreaks are on-going in nine care homes.
