This weekend, crews have come to the aid of two stricken animals in the Craigavon area.
A swan on the run from Bangor is now at home in Craigavon Lakes after being found on a nearby road. But rather than return him to his home, he is now a welcome blow-in.
“Having rounded up our stray Bangorian, we couldn’t find anyone willing to actually drive that far to return him. We also decided that, since our visitor had clearly made a deliberate effort to come to Craigavon, that forcing him back to be to inflict the worst view in the world on him…Carrick,” said a police spokesperson.
‘Police Swan Bucky’ is now patrolling Craigavon Lakes.
Also, last night (Saturday), police in Portadown received a call notifying them that a kitten was trapped in a bin.
“My initial reply was “is your man fur real?” What is the actual paw-sibility of a cat getting stuck in a bin. I mean that isn’t very claw-ver!
“We arrived at the bin in question, three police officers standing around a litter bin saying “here kitty, kitty, kitty” and ‘pssssssssssst, pssssssssst, pssssssssst’. There was no sign of the kitten, I started to think someone must be kitten me……….,” explained a spokesperson.
However, the police could hear a faint ‘meow’ coming from hedges on the other side of the road.
“As we investigated furr-ther, spending 10 minutes shining our torches into a hedge where the high pitched meowing was coming from, we finally located this wee ginger ball of fur who was shivering and soaking wet.
“The wee kitten was located at the back of the prickliest hedge and for some reason he wouldn’t come out even though by this stage we were all fluent in ‘cat’ talk. Somehow the three of us all scratched our heads and eventually were able to reach the wee kitten who is now named ROBIN,” said the spokesperson.
The ‘tale’ has a happy ending as the original caller who reported him has adopted the kitten.
“Wee Robin is liter-ally the most fur-tunate kitten in hiss-tory as he has now found his fur-ever home,” added the spokesperson.
