Elderly householders in east Belfast have had their windows smashed in the latest attack upon the vulnerable in our society.
At around 6.45pm last night (Saturday) the windows of the house at Cheviot Street were broken while the elderly residents were inside. Understandably, they were very shaken up by this incident, police say.
Last week, the home of an elderly woman was ransacked and jewellery stolen. The incident happened in the Loopland Parade area of east Belfast on Wednesday (April 3).
And a man aged in his nineties was robbed in his east Belfast home during a distraction burglary recently.
A man wearing a yellow hard hat and a high-vis waistcoat over a pale blue shirt called at the pensioner’s home at Circular Road and asked him about work to his chimney. As the householder turned away to make a phone call, the suspect stepped into the man’s hallway and told him he would need a deposit. The elderly man reached for his wallet and the suspect took it from him and stole the money inside.
This latest incident last night has prompted police to issue an appeal.
“Were you in Cheviot Street on Saturday evening? Did you see anything untoward or anyone acting suspiciously?
