Householders in the Antrim and Newtownabbey areas are being warned after a number of break-ins and attempted forced entries to homes.
The home of an elderly woman was burgled last Friday, although nothing was taken.
The incident happened on the Carncome Road, just outside Kells.
“Although nothing was taken, you can imagine how she feels, having had unknown people in her house, looking through her possessions while she had nipped out to the shops,” said a police spokesperson.
And the PSNI is appealing for help in tracing those responsible.
“If you were in the area on Friday, late morning/ early afternoon, and you saw something out of place, unknown persons, slow moving vehicles etc, please give Antrim detectives a call to discuss what you saw. You can ring us on 101 and ask for Antrim CID office or if you’d rather remain anonymous you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. The reference for this incident is 924 of 19th July,” added the spokesperson.
And in a separate incident, there was an attempted burglary on Friday 19 July in the Ballyearl Drive area of Mossley in Newtownabbey.
The incident happened around noon.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen any suspicious people or vehicles in the area to come forward.
