A woman in her 80s had a wedding ring stolen by a man who she discovered was hiding behind her bedroom door last night (Saturday) in Antrim.
The woman had gone upstairs to close a bedroom window of the property at Ballymena Road just before 7pm.
As she was leaving the bedroom she saw a man hiding behind the bedroom door. When challenged he proceeded to walk down the stairs and then left.
She has since discovered that several rings, including a gold wedding band, an engagement ring and an eternity ring are missing from her jewellery box.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses following the burglary last night (Saturday November 27).
A police spokesperson said this has been an extremely distressing ordeal for the woman and enquiries are continuing.
“We are appealing for anyone with information who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in and around this property last night to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference number 1647 27/11/21,” said the spokesperson.
