900 litres of oil rockets to around £870

Oil prices in Northern Ireland have shot up to between £850 and £895 on average.

Some suppliers are limiting quantities to just 300 litres per customer.

Brent crude, the international benchmark for oil prices, has hit $113 a barrel, marking the highest level since June 2014.

The surging cost of metals too, such as aluminium and copper, currently means shoppers are likely to face higher prices.

That’s according to the head of the London Metal Exchange.

Matthew Chamberlain told the BBC’s Today programme that prices for canned goods may rise.

Petrol prices too have rise Northern Ireland with unleaded at 142p and diesel around 148p.

The current cost of living, from petrol to home heating to food price rises, has pushed many people into financial difficulties.
