A former mayor is to appear in court later this month charged with drink-driving.
DUP Antrim and Newtownabbey councillor Thomas Hogg, who’s 30, was stopped by police on the Crumlin Road in North Belfast on April 29.
He’s due to appear at Laganside Magistrates’ Court on May 25. He faces a charge of driving a vehicle with excess alcohol.
Mr Hogg was elected as a councillor in 2011. He served as Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey Council for two years from 2014.
He received an MBE in the 2016 Queen’s Birthday Honours List for services to local government.
The DUP has confirmed that the party is aware of the charge Mr Hogg faces.
