A young girl has died in hospital following reports she was thrown from a bouncy castle in Gorleston.
The incident is reported to have happened around 11am this morning. Reports on social media say she was catapulted 20ft into the air.
The child was taken to hospital ‘in a serious medical condition’ but Norfolk police has since confirmed that the child has passed away.
“The young girl was taken to the James Paget Hospital; however sadly died,” a police spokesman added.
“Next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.”
The rest of the beach remains open to members of the public.
Witnesses described seeing a girl being given CPR.
A joint investigation between the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), local authority and police has been launched. Police enquiries are continuing.
