The Coastguard Boat House in Whiteabbey is now welcoming guests and is one of the first businesses in Northern Ireland to be accredited with ‘Good to Go’.
Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Alderman John Smyth visited the guest house recently.
‘Good to Go’ is a free UK-wide accreditation which demonstrates that a business has followed government and industry COVID-19 guidelines and has a process in place to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing.
Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Alderman John Smyth said he was delighted that the hospitality sector has finally been given the green light to reopen.
“The Good to Go accreditation is a great way of providing reassurance to staff, customers and communities that safe working guidelines have been adopted. COVID-19 has had a detrimental impact on our borough’s tourism and hospitality sector. As local accommodation providers start to reopen I would encourage everyone to book a staycation this summer and support local businesses,” he added.
Carol Magill, owner of the Coastguard Boat House said they are delighted to be welcoming tourists again, and dogs too.
“In common with businesses across the borough we have had to rethink how we keep ourselves, our staff and our guests safe. We have looked at each step of the process, from contactless check in, breaks between stays and an enhanced cleaning and disinfection process, to ensure this is the case,” she added.
