The four remaining recycling centres in Mid-Ulster will open on Wednesday 15 July following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Recycling centres in Ballymacombs, Castledawson, Draperstown and Moneymore will join the seven centres already re-opened, including Cookstown, Dungannon, Magherafelt, Coalisland, Maghera, Tullyvar and Fivemiletown.
Speaking on the development, Chair of the Council’s Environment Committee, Councillor Sean McGuigan said the opening is a very welcome move by the council.
“It demonstrates our willingness to push forward and our desire to see the council return to operating at its full capacity, something I know residents will appreciate and fully utilise.
“Having all 11 recycling centres successfully re-opened and operational again is a massive achievement for the council. I would like to thank all the staff who have worked tirelessly to help deliver these key services during the COVID-19 pandemic, this would not be possible without their hard work and dedication. I would also like to thank our residents for their patience and co-operation during what I recognise has been an incredibly challenging and difficult time,” he said.
In another move, toilet facilities at forest parks managed by the council will re-open on Friday (10 July). The public toilets at Burn Road, Cookstown have already re-opened and all other public toilets in town and villages will have re-opened by Wednesday 15 July.
