Barry McGuigan’s daughter has died at the age of 33 after a short battle with cancer.
The daughter of the former boxer, who was known as Nika, appeared in films and on television as well as on the stage.
The Agency, who looked after Danika, released a statement on behalf of the family:
“It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our beautiful daughter and sister, Danika “Nika” McGuigan.
“After a brief but brave battle against cancer, Nika passed away peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday 23rd July, surrounded by her loving family.”
Nika played Danielle in the RTÉ series Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope. She recently completed filming on a film called Wildfire, which traces the life of two sisters who grew up on the Northern Irish border.
She also starred alongside Rooney Mara in an adaptation of Sebastian Barry’s ‘The Secret Scripture.’
