Businesses targeted by fraudsters with counterfeit notes

Counterfeit notes are being passed in Northern Ireland and police are asking business owners to be vigilant.

A number of businesses were targeted in the Ballycastle and North Antrim area recently by a group of people with southern accents trying to purchase items with fraudulent Scottish £20 notes.

Police are asking businesses to please check all notes by using either a pen or machine.

If you come across any fraudulent notes or persons trying to pay in this way contact police straight away on 101 or 999 in an emergency.

The quality of the paper is very poor.

Counterfeit notes.
