Concerns have been raised about how smear tests were carried out at two surgeries in Newtownabbey and Belfast.
And as a result of these concerns, 150 women have been recalled for repeat tests after the procedure was not carried out correctly.
Those tests were carried out by one particular healthcare worker at Abbott’s Cross Practice in Newtownabbey and Dr McKenna’s Practice, situated at Thames Street in Belfast.
All the women concerned have been sent invitations by their GP for a repeat screening.
The healthcare worker involved has not performed any tests since concerns emerged.
A cervical smear test involves some cells being taken from a woman’s cervix.
It is understood that all these women’s results came back negative. However, the Public Health Agency is asking the women to have the tests redone to ensure the results are accurate.
The women are asked to telephone their surgery to arrange for a new appointment.
