‘Dear David’ began when former BuzzFeed writer Adam Ellis, unfolded a spooky tale over Twitter in August, focusing on a supposed dead boy who was tormenting him and his cats. The story went viral, with Adam collecting over one million followers, thanks to the heightened public interest.
But many were suspicious of the Dear David episodes, with some saying it clearly was a scam to attract more followers.
This week however, it’s emerged that New Line has shown interest in Dear David. New Line pipped Paramount Players to the post for the film.
The film is now being developed as a ‘high-concept horror thriller’ based on the series of tweets about the haunting.
Adam produced credible evidence for his followers, including photos and videos clearly showing the images of a ghostly child. Some were quick to insist they were edited. Others jumped on the ‘Dear David’ rollercoaster, religiously hanging on every tweet.
In various interviews, Adam has insisted that his story is true, and the haunting was genuine and not a scam.
