A Ballymena woman has taken to social media to highlight what she calls the ‘disgraceful’ nature of the park at Smithfield.
Shauna Magee says she has come across broken glass, beer tins and apparent heroin needles in the park.
“I’ve lived here for three years now and nothing has been done. Every summer my children are restricted to my garden as even the pitch is too unsafe for them to play! It’s about time someone took action and did something about this. So many families live in this area, yet none dare bring their children to this park!” she says.
She says a child could easily be injured by the strewn broken grass or by a discarded needle.
And she’s appealing for the park to be cleaned up.
