A driver was hijacked in north Belfast this morning while parking his car.
A man armed with a small knife demanded the car keys from the driver who had just entered the car park at Gardiner Street in north Belfast at around 6:30am.
Following a minor altercation, the hijacker drove off towards the Divis area of west Belfast. The driver of the vehicle was not injured but was left badly shaken.
Detectives in north Belfast are appealing for information following the incident.
Detective Constable Taylor said as the man got out of his blue Volvo V60, an unknown man armed with a small knife approached and demanded his car keys.
“The suspect is described as wearing white trainers, dark-coloured tracksuit bottoms and a dark hooded top.
“Enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone with any information to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 175 16/01/20. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous,” added the Detective Constable.
