An elderly woman had a purse and cash stolen when an intruder entered her home via an unlocked rear door.
The incident happened on Saturday (7 December) sometime between 3pm and 4:30pm at Staffordstown Road in Toome.
The young man spoke to the elderly occupant and once he left, it was discovered that a brown purse and a sum of cash was taken.
“Obviously this was very distressing for the occupant and at this time of year we should all be looking out for our more vulnerable neighbours,” said a PSNI spokesperson.
And police are appealing for the help of the public.
“Were you in the area at the time and did you notice any suspicious persons or vehicles? “Have you any CCTV that can assist our enquiries? The smallest piece of info can always help.”
