A man, woman and four children escaped injury after two windows of a house were smashed and a car set on fire in an attack in Newcastle.
The incident happened at Shimna Road.
A Mercedes car parked at the front of the house was completely destroyed in the incident which was reported to police at around 2.45am on Thursday morning.
Police are investigating the incident.
Inspector Frances McCullough said it is fortunate that the emergency services reached this property before the fire spread to the house.
“The consequences otherwise do not bear thinking about. We are working to establish a motive for this attack and I am appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact me by calling 101, quoting reference 141 30/07/20,” added the Inspector.
