Five deaths and 419 new cases of COVID-19

Five further people have died as a result of COVID-19 in Northern Ireland.

There are 419 new cases.


The hospital bed occupancy rate in the province has reached 98%. Alarmingly, there are  110 coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Robin Swann said restrictions at the start of the New Year were ‘inevitable’ and the severity would depend on actions.

And further doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine have arrived in Northern Ireland. Almost 50,000 doses are here.
