A flat has been damaged in a suspected arson attack in Newry.
The window of a property at Boat Street was smashed just after midnight and a fire started in the kitchen. No one was inside the flat at the time of the incident.
Detectives are appealing for information following the report of arson this morning (Friday 27 December).
Detective Sergeant Bell said enquiries are continuing and at this stage, the fire is being treated as deliberate.
“We would appeal to anyone with any information to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference 991 27/12/19. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime,” added the Detective Sergeant.
