Footfall at Fairhill Shopping Centre takes huge leaps forward

Fairhill Shopping Centre in Ballymena enjoyed an impressive ten per cent increase in footfall figures.

That’s compared to Christmas and New Year 2017.

Home to Marks and Spencer, Debenhams, New Look and Next, the centre saw a nine per cent increase in footfall during the week December 22 to 29, compared to that of 2017. Furthermore, there was an increase of seven per cent throughout December compared to the previous year.

Following the news that Next will be staying until 2024 and the opening of a further four units, including River Island Kids and The Kiosk this year, December’s footfall figures confirms that the shopping centre is a location of choice for many.

Natalie Jackson, Fairhill Centre Manager said the centre was extremely busy throughout the period.

“The last quarter of 2018 saw a reasonable increase of two per cent on footfall, in addition to the festive footfall figures. We are looking forward to 2019,” she said.

And the manager said even though the High Street faces challenges, these statistics show that the Fairhill Shopping Centre is a favourite destination for shoppers, given the great mix of high street, independent retailers and eateries.

“The addition of a number of pop-up stands throughout the mall including LMD, Calendar Club, Montgomery ’s Gift Store and Freshways’ fruit and veg over the Christmas period added to the offering for shoppers, helping to bolster the footfall.

“As we approach the 30th anniversary of Fairhill, it’s fantastic to see the centre prospering, and with three new tenants due to open in the first quarter of the year, things are looking very positive for the Fairhill this year,” she added.
