Drumbo Park Greyhound Stadium is to close with the loss of 44 jobs.
The closure comes into effect immediately.
In a statement released this morning (Friday) the directors said the business was no longer viable, due to a shortage of greyhounds, the impact of online gambling and the ‘restrictive’ licensing laws here.
The 14 full time and 30 part time staff have been informed of the closure.
“In addition, unlike the greyhound racetracks in the Republic of Ireland, Drumbo Park received no government funding,” the statement reads.
“In the past two years, the directors invested substantial resources in an effort to turn the business around but a decision had to be taken that it was no longer viable.
“The directors would like to thank the staff, customers and dog owners for their support and dedication over the past decade,” it concluded.
