A new gateway entrance road and major improvement works are to be carried out at The Junction in Antrim.
Approval has been granted by the Planning Committee of Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council.
The scheme is a key part of the overall £23.5 million masterplan for the regeneration of the Junction, approved by the Council in December 2017.
This development will complement ongoing works at the site, including the recent completion of a McDonald’s drive thru and the construction of a new Lidl store scheduled to open later this year.
Following the decision, Committee Chairman, Councillor Henry Cushinan said implementation of the scheme will provide a tree lined boulevard leading to a new public square at the Junction.
“These environmental improvements will not only improve access into the site but will help create a new focal point and promote ongoing regeneration at the site,” he said.
Councillor Cushinan added that the council welcomes the continued investment by the Lotus Group at The Junction and recognises the contribution of this scheme in maintaining jobs in Antrim.
