An IRA unit that conducted a secret investigation into the murder of backpacker Inga Maria Hauser could hold clues about the identity of her killer.
No one has ever been convicted following the death of the eighteen-year-old from Munich, in 1988. Her body was found dumped in Ballypatrick Forest Park.
Today it’s been revealed that republican paramilitaries considered passing information about the suspected killer to the Royal Ulster Constabulary at the height of the Troubles.
Ms Hauser’s death is one the most high-profile unsolved murder cases in Northern Ireland.
