Linfield Football Club says one of its players has tested positive for the coronavirus Covid-19.
There are 16 people in Northern Ireland who have been confirmed as having contracted the virus.
Linfield says it is taking advice from the relevant authorities and will provide an update when further details are available.
Player Ryan McGivern was excused from training as a precaution following recent contact with a Hanover player. Ryan alerted the club and opted to self-isolate.
Hanover FC said it was only made aware of the positive test result following the game against Coagh United FC reserves on Saturday.
Very unpleasant news that one of our players has tested positive for Covid-19. The priority now is to look after the welfare of our players and staff. Issues around football will be addressed in due course.
