A 46-year-old man has died following a single vehicle crash which happened on the Glenshane Road last night (Tuesday, April 23).
He has been named as Patrick Healy from Derry/Londonderry. Mr Healy was travelling in a grey Vauxhall Crossland.
The crash occurred close to the Ponderosa at around 11.45pm. Two women who were also in the car were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police are appealing for anyone who was travelling on the Glenshane Road last night and who witnessed the collision or anyone who has any mobile phone or dashcam footage of the incident to contact officers in Limavady or the Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting reference 1654 23/04/19.
The Glenshane Road remains closed between the Garvagh Road in Dungiven and Tobermore Road in Maghera while police continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision.
It is expected the road will re-open at around 10am later this morning (Wednesday 24th April).
