A man in his 50s and a woman in her 40s were taken to hospital after being attacked by a man armed with a weapon at their home on the Ballyeaston Road in Ballyclare in the early hours of this morning (Friday).
The man suffered injuries to his ankle, arm and face whilst the woman sustained facial injuries. A car was also stolen.
Detectives are appealing for information following the incident.
Detective Sergeant Lorimer said shortly before half past midnight, entry was gained to a house in the area by an unknown man.
“It was also reported that a silver Seat Alhambra was stolen from the property and was later found burnt out on the Deerpark Road in Larne. Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service attended and extinguished the fire.
“Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident and police would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 33 of 18/09/20.
