Man arrested in Straid: 100 items recovered following incidents of rural thefts

A 46-year-old man has been arrested after police recovered over 100 stolen items, including vehicles and power tools, from a property on the Irish Hill Road in Straid, near Ballyclare.

The search, linked to incidents of rural theft, was conducted on Thursday.


Detective Inspector Lenaghan said enquiries into what could amount to be dozens of incidents of rural thefts across the country since 2017, led police to the property on the Irish Hill Road.

He said a man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of handling stolen goods and later released on police bail to allow for further enquiries to be carried out.
