A 45-year-old man was shot dead in the Ballymun area of Dublin last night.
The incident happened shortly after 11.15pm at Poppintree Crescent.
The injured man was attended to by emergency services, but he was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
Forensic and technical examinations of the scene have been carried out.
Gardaí have said the investigation is ongoing.
