Production has begun again at Cranswick’s factory in Cullybackey after it was shut for nearly two weeks following an outbreak of COVID-19.
A Cranswick spokesperson said production will ‘ramp up early next week’.
Production was suspended at the site at on August 22, after 35 cases of COVID-19 were discovered among the 500-strong workforce in what was referred to as a ‘significant’ outbreak.
Cranswick also temporarily suspended its exports to China following the positive results.
It’s the first major firm in Northern Ireland to cease production for a prolonged period to deal with a coronavirus outbreak.
North Antrim DUP MP Ian Paisley said he was concerned about the impact of the closure on the agri-food industry.
“We cannot have a situation where COVIID prevents factory production that ultimately damages the NI agri-food sector. That would be catastrophic,” he said in an earlier statement.
