A female staff member at a Lisburn Road off licence was threatened by two men, one of whom was armed with a knife.
The men escaped with cash following the incident in south Belfast last night which happened just before 9pm (Sunday).
Detectives are appealing for information and witnesses following the report of the armed robbery
Detective Sergeant Gardiner said police received a report, just before 8.50pm last night, that two men had entered the premises.
“It’s reported that one of them, armed with a knife, went behind the counter and threatened the female member of staff.
“The two men subsequently made off with a sum of money, heading along Chadwick Street,” he said.
One of the men is described as being between 5ft 10” and 6ft in height, aged in his mid to late 20s, with a brown goatee-style beard, and he was wearing a navy puffa-type jacket.
The second is described as being around 5ft 5” in height and of slim build. He was wearing a bright blue raincoat.
“This was a terrifying ordeal for the staff member who, while physically uninjured, has been left shaken.
“We are appealing to anyone with information, or who noticed any suspicious activity, to get in touch. Contact us on 101, quoting reference number 1703 of 03/11/19,” added the Detective Sergeant.
