A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery.
Police say the incident happened at a shop in Dunmurry this morning (Sunday, 3 November) at around 10:20am.
Detective Sergeant Sam McCallum said a man with his face covered entered the premises in Broom Park with a knife and demanded that a female staff member hand him money and cigarettes before ordering her into a back room as he fled the scene.
“This afternoon, detectives arrested a 19-year-old male on suspicion of robbery and he is currently in custody assisting us with our enquiries.
“The female staff member was not physically injured, but there is no doubt she has been left distressed by what can only be described as an extremely frightening ordeal which occurred in her place of work where she was simply doing her job,” said Detective Sergeant Sam McCallum.
And police are appealing for information.
“I want to appeal to anyone who has information which may assist our investigation to call detectives at Musgrave on 101, quoting reference number 619 of 03/11/19,” added Detective Sergeant Sam McCallum.
