The Movie House’s Belfast cinema will close its doors on Sunday, April 26.
Software company Kainos bought the site at Bankmore Square for in excess of £7m last year.
Staff will be offered opportunities at its other locations at Yorkgate, Glengormley and Maghera.
The Belfast-based software company has obtained planning permission for a 250,000sq ft office building.
Michael McAdam, Managing Director of Movie House, said: “It’s the end of an era on the Dublin Road and we want to thank all our customers and staff teams for their support over the years. We were moved by the many stories people shared with us about their visits to the Dublin Road cinema and we know it was an important part of the local community.”
He said in the past year, Movie House has invested heavily in the Cityside-Yorkgate cinema to give customers the ultimate luxury movie experience with comfortable VIP recliner seats at no additional cost.
And Mr McAdam said he wanted to thank the staff.
Mr McAdam added: “They’ve done an amazing job and I’d like to publicly thank them for this. We will continue to show movies until Sunday, April 26th and hope our customers old and new will come to say goodbye.
“We wish Kainos well in their new development and to thank them for extending our time at Dublin Road.”
