A viable device has been taken way for forensic examination following a security alert at Felden Place in Newtownabbey.
Residents have been allowed to return to their homes after being evacuated this afternoon.
Police and army technical officers attended the scene and worked to make the area safe.
“We’re grateful to local people for their patience. Families had to leave their homes, having their afternoon disrupted, while we worked to make the area safe,” said a police spokesperson.
“Most importantly, it’s fortunate that no one was physically injured. The consequences of this attack could have been devastating.”
