Oh deer – a tail of the unexpected…..

A deer which got stuck in a tree at Killymoon Golf Club in Cookstown has been rescued and set free.

With the help of the PSNI, the Fire Service, the grounds keeper and the USPCA, the deer was sent on its way.

The nearby Cabin Wood is a haven for all kinds of wildlife, and both red and fallow deer have been seen in the parklands at the Killymoon River. Locals can see deer crossing the shallow parts of the river.

“When you’re told to head to the golf club because there’s a young buck stuck in a tree, I’ll be honest I had a different type of call in mind. With help from the Fire Service, the grounds keeper and the USPCA, after a fair bit of work we were able to set this one on his way,” explained a PSNI spokesperson.
