Police are warning social media users not to share an apparent video of two people allegedly engaging in a sexual act in a nightclub as they could be breaking the law.
The video has been widely shared on a number of platforms including Twitter, What’s App and Facebook.
Police say it’s incidents like these that can force people to take their own lives.
“It’s embarrassing enough for those involved that this even exists not to mention possibly illegal if you are sharing it to cause distress or embarrassment to others,” said a police spokesperson.
Police have also said that the woman alleged to be in the video is being wrongly identified.
“She walked into a police station in Lurgan on Tuesday to raise concerns and was said to be devastated and distressed,” said the spokesperson.
“Please think before you share, forward or send any image, video or text! You may be committing an offence and worst case scenario – you may be helping to ruin someone’s life due to misinformation.
“It’s stupid acts such as this that can end up with those concerned taking their own lives.
“If you have this video or any images please delete them,” added the spokesperson.
