Police say they will continue to check CCTV around McDonald’s in Carrickfergus in a bid to stamp out anti-social behaviour.
The area has proved to be a particular problem in the town with young people congregating and causing trouble.
They say will they will be working with McDonalds and schools in the area to identify anyone who is making a nuisance of themselves or committing offences.
“Young people are mini adults, capable of respectful behaviour, consideration for others and eating properly. They apparently are the future. Over the weekend we spent a serious amount of time responding to reports that evolution had seemingly lost its way. Although the anti-social behaviour was spread across the town, one of the problem areas is the town’s branch of McDonald’s,” said a police spokesperson.
They are issuing warnings to young people to refrain from causing an annoyance to other people.
“The concept of McDonalds is simple. You go in, order your food, receive your food and eat your food. It’s almost like a really successful business model.
“While doing the above you will be considerate to other customers and staff, conversation will be made at a reasonable volume and language will be appropriate to the surroundings. You won’t run around, shout, cause annoyance or curse. It’s a family place after all, that’s why they do a kids ‘meal with a toy!” added the spokesperson.
Police say if this behaviour continues they will be routinely checking CCTV.
