School principals should ask pupils to take a lateral flow test if there are confirmed cases of COVID-19 in that class.
That’s according new guidance from the Education Authority (EA) and the Public Health Agency (PHA) and applies to pupils in both primary and secondary and grammar schools.
According to the letter, the spread of Omicron has impacted schools, with a ‘steep increase’ in cases in Northern Ireland.
The guidance from the EA and PHA recommends that primary school pupils take a lateral flow test at home if they are asymptomatic and are part of a class where there are a number of confirmed cases.
If the child’s LFT is positive they should isolate.
