The Darkness into Light event is taking place this weekend.
All proceeds will go to Pieta House, a charity that support families bereaved by suicide.
This event involves a 5k walk or a run perfectly timed to allow participants to experience the sun rising. It starts at 4:15 am at the various venues and is designed to raise awareness of suicide and self-harm.
Darkness Into Light is Pieta House’s flagship awareness event. This year, walkers and runners will participate in the event at around 180 venues around the world.
Last year almost 200,000 people took part.
Pieta House was founded in Lucan, Co Dublin, in 2006 and now offers services right across Ireland.
Pieta offers free counselling to those suffering from suicidal ideation, those who have been bereaved by suicide and people who are engaging in self-harm.
Staff are fully qualified and provide a professional one-to-one therapeutic service.
