The Salthouse hotel in Ballycastle has opened its new £400,000 spa facility.
The country’s most sustainable and eco-friendly hotel opened its doors in July to tourists and stay-cationers.
The new spa will add another eco-friendly dimension to the £5m property complex by offering guests the opportunity to enjoy treatments in one of three rooms, relax in the new thermal suite or feel invigorated by the rain shower.
An aromatherapy steam room and four heated daybeds are also part of the new offering at The Salthouse. For those who want to soak up the hotel’s surroundings, external hot tubs and a sauna offer views of Rathlin Island and Scotland.
All therapists at the spa have been trained by organic beauty brand Voya and will perform treatments using an array of Voya products.
And for visitors who are eco-conscious, they can rest assured that the new spa is in keeping with the rest of the venue as it’s powered by renewable energy.
Carl McGarrity from The Salthouse said the spa will complete an already unique and popular offering in Northern Ireland:.
“The hotel is now a complete package that invites guests to discover coastal calm and couple it with a well-deserved relaxing break that can be highlighted by one of many spa treatments. It is a welcome and complementary addition to our existing offering and it keeps our sustainable theme strong by using solar and wind power combined with air source heat pumps,” he said.
The Salthouse opened in July following a £5m investment.

The 24-bed eco hotel introduced a new hospitality concept to the area by operating solely on renewable energy and using a mix of local materials for construction.
An on-site wind turbine and solar panels have become part of the design of the venue, while promoting its carbon-neutral credentials and SMART rooms took the forward-thinking concept even further by employing the latest technology and allowing guests total control of all features including lighting and heating.
As well as its new spa, the hotel also has a restaurant offering which embraces its seaside location by serving locally sourced produce, some of which boast a zero mile food journey.

Mr McGarrity says the hotel has a lot more to offer with exciting plans in the pipeline.
He added: “The Salthouse is an oasis of calm and there are countless ways to ramp up that offering. We are always looking at new ways of expanding and the phenomenal feedback we’ve received to date tells us demand is high for more of the same. Whatever we introduce, our guests can be sure that it will play on our sustainable credentials and complement our surrounding landscape. We look forward to showcasing our next project in the near future.”
