A scam has been circulating on social media following yesterday’s O2 outage.
The scam advises O2 customers to obtain a refund by ringing 141999.
However, police say this is a prank and will put the caller through to the emergency operator.
O2 has said its data networks have been restored following a day of disruption.
A statement on the website, said the network was operational again. The outage was first reported at 5:30am on Thursday.
O2 also provides services for Tesco, Sky, Giffgaff and Lycamobile networks.
The outage led to outrage on social media with many claiming the data service disruption had affected business and transport plans.
Apparently there is something circulating on social media advising O2 customers to ring 141999 to get a refund after the data issues yesterday. THIS IS A PRANK and will put you through to the emergency operator, please don’t ring it.
