Police investigating the crash that claimed the life of pedestrian Richard Gerard Boyle in west Belfast on Friday (5 February) have made a second arrest.
A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a number of related offences and remains in custody at this time.
And a 23-year-old man also arrested in relation to the investigation has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Richard Gerard Boyle died following the collision on the Stewartstown Road.
Police say he was struck by a vehicle that failed to stop at the scene at around 10:20pm. He was taken to hospital, but sadly died.
Inspector Phil McCullagh said police continue to appeal for information about a dark-coloured Volkswagen Golf that may have been involved.
“We are appealing to anyone with information, or anyone who was on the Stewartstown Road between 9.30pm and 10.20pm and witnessed the collision, or drivers who may have captured it on their dash cam, to get in touch by calling 101 and quoting reference number 1997 of 05/02/21,” he added.
