A woman was approached by a man who attempted to hijack her car as she was driving along the road in Saintfield last night (Friday, 5 February).
Police say the woman was driving along Listooder Road when she was approached by a man standing in the middle of the road at around 10:30pm.
The incident happened at the junction of Old Grand Jury Road.
The man is reported to have approached the vehicle and ordered the woman to get out.
Police investigating the report of the attempted hijacking in Saintfield last night are appealing for information.
Sergeant Nigel Donnelly said thankfully, the woman managed to drive away, and she was uninjured, but he said, this was a frightening experience for her.
“Our enquiries in this incident are continuing, and I would appeal to anyone travelling on Listooder Road between 10:30pm and 10:40pm, and who saw any suspicious activity or anything out of the ordinary, to call police. I would also appeal to anyone with information about this incident to get in touch with us by calling 101 and quote reference number 2050 of 05/02/21,” he said.
