An investigation has begun after shots were fired at an apartment in west Belfast in the early hours of this morning (January 1).
The incident occurred on the Upper Springfield Road.
Police are investigating a possible link to this incident and windows being smashed at a house at Dermott Hill Parade.
Detective Sergeant Moffett said police received a report shortly after 1:50am of shots being fired at the front of an apartment in the area.
No one was inside the property at the time of the incident, he said.
“We are also investigating a possible link to this incident and a report of criminal damage at a house in the Dermott Hill Parade area. Police received a report at 2:45am this morning that the windows of a house in the area were smashed at around 8pm last night (Monday, December 31),” he said.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
“Enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious at either areas to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 231 1/1/19. “Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime,” added Detective Sergeant Moffett.
